Robert A. McDermott, J.D., LL.M.

Mr. McDermott grew up on the east side of Washington State where, in 1995, he completed his undergraduate accounting degree from Eastern Washington University. While working full time at a regional accounting firm, he completed his law degree in 1998 at Gonzaga University. That same year he began to work with the Seattle office of the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, L.L.P. Throughout his years at the Deloitte firm, he worked in the areas of pension administration as well as individual and corporate income tax matters.

In 2001, Mr. McDermott went to work at the U.S. headquarters of Corporate Express, Inc., in Broomfield, Colorado. While there, Mr. McDermott assisted in tax planning and preparation surrounding large national and international business mergers and acquisitions. He also provided corporate tax audit defense during examinations by the Internal Revenue Service and various state and local taxing authorities.

Mr. McDermott opened the small law firm of McDermott & McDermott, LLC in 2000 and subsequently moved his practice to Mallgren & Ferrell, P.C. in 2003. During 2005, he completed a Master of Laws in Tax (LL.M.) degree at Denver University. Currently, Mr. McDermott's practice includes estate and trust litigation, IRS audit defense, Section 1031 tax free real estate exchanges, and commercial real estate transactions.
